This week – 16th May to 18th May – The Plastic Pals are going on a mini tour to the UK. Thursday May 16 and Friday May 17 we´re playing at The Cavern Club as a part of the line up for the 11th festival Internartional Pop Overthrow, Liverpool. Straight after last Liverpool gig, Friday 17th May, we go straight down to London to play at The Betsey Trotwood in Clerkenwell. Last gig of this tour is Saturday 18th May when we play at the Dirty Water Club at The Shacklewell Arms in Dalston, London.

In the footprints of The Beatles
It might not be exactly the same as the Cavern Club as where The Beatles started out. But The Plastic Pals are very honoured to be on the bill for this The Eleventh Annual International Pop Overthrow Liverpool which is held at The Cavern (Club and Pub) 14 May – 22 May.
The Plastic Pals´s gigs in Liverpool are at 8:15 PM Thursday 16th May and at 12:00 AM Friday 17th May at The Cavern Club, 10 Matthew Street.

Going back to Clerkenwell
Straight after the Friday gig in Liverpool we´ll grab a train and go down to London to play at The Betsey Trotwood, this wonderful, quirky, little gem of a pub in Clerkenwell – a gig together with some of the greatest music talent in London, our pals Dan Raza & The Shrouds and Trent Miller. As a special tribute to this joint and it´s proprietors Scott and Raz, our pal, the one and only Gurbs Dhillon as well as Alan Tyler who runs the club Come down and meet the folks at The Apple Tree just around the corner, we´ve written a new song that we´ll play at this show: Going back to Clerkenwell. This joint, The Betsey Trotwood, is at 56 Farringdon Road, London.

Our last gig of this UK mini tour is at Dirty Water Club @ The Shacklewell Arms with the wonderful garage rock-band Hollywood Sinners, Ricky C Quartet and ANO. The joint The Shacklewell Arms is at 71 Shacklewell Lane, E8, Dalston, London.

Saturday April 20 is a not-to-miss-date for friends and fans of americana, roots rock and psychedelic jangly guitar pop in Stockholm. The Plastic Pals have invited fantastic Italian americana band Lowlands for a double bill gig at Skål, Hornstull, Stockholm.

Not only is is Edward Abbiati a very gifted songsmith, singer and leader of the wonderful americana/roots rock act Lowlands from Pavia, Italy, who is also a friend of and have been working with our producer Chris Cacavas. Last year he also released a great album of Woody Guthrie songs – in celebration of it being 100 years since the folk legend was born.

So it is a huge honour for us in The Plastic Pals to welcome this amazing Italian band, Lowlands, to come and play with us in Stockholm in April.

Tunes from our new album Turn The Tide are getting a lot of airplay right now in Holland, Germany, the UK, Sweden and Denmark. This weekend – Friday March 29 and Sunday March 31 on the Along The Tracks from the UK.

Along The Tracks is a two hour show – hosted by FATEA´s managing editor Neil King – that extensively features artists that FATEA are covering in their magazine – ususally the more recent arrivals into the office. The show is broadcasted on internet radio station Acoustic Spectrum and goes out twice a week between 7pm & 9pm (GMT) on Fridays, repeated between 9pm and 11pm (GMT) on the Sunday. Saturday March 2 The Plastic Pals were added to the playlist on House of Mercy Radio Show hosted by Barry Marshall Everitt. Barry is a great supporter of americana and roots music and have played us Plastic Pals on his show before. Nice to be back! House of Mercy Radio Show started when Barry Marshall Everitt was promoter of London venue The Borderline in 2000. Barry himself started his radio career in 1970 on Radio Geronimo, Europe’s first free form progressive radio station owned by Rolling Stones producer Jimmy Miller and Tony Secunda, mangager for T Rex and The Move.

After that Barry travelled to New York and helped start WPLJ FM – and then back to Europe’s North Sea and pirate radio with Radio Caroline/ Radio Seagull. Later he went back to the US where he worked for five years at KSML, KFAT, KDKB before ending up producing and hosting Rock Around The World, a syndicated radio magazine from Los Angeles.

The other day we played an acoustic instore at Pet Sounds Records here in Stockholm. We love doing these laid back shows as much as we love playing electric shows.

For being a winter break in Stockholm with 2/3 of the city off skiing it was a pretty good turn-out. And those who showed up seemed to enjoy themseleves as much as we did.

Just got the news that Steve Wynn persuaded Chris Cacavas to play his Green on Red classic That´s what you here for (which he wrote and then sang on the Gravity Talks album) the other night on their joint European tour. Apparently he (Chris) got worried that he wouldn´t remember the words to it. Maybe that´s why him and Steve Wynn ran such a slow (but very nice) version of it. Us Plastic Pals, we take no prisoners. When Cacavas was in Stockholm a year ago (Jan 21) and played with us we just – without warning – basically stuck a lyric sheet in front of him and counted in: 1,2,3…
